Kevan is the Director of Communications of For the Love of a Child. His functions include maintenance of the website, drafting press releases, and providing expertise and consultation in matters of internal, external, formal, and informal communications related to the organization. He has been with FLC since January, 2007.
Kevan is a senior at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan where he is pursuing a degree in Accounting. Kevan serves Wayne State as Chairman of the school's Budget Committee and remains a staunch supporter of proactive programming with his work for Special Events Committee and Scholar's Day. Kevan recently co-founded new student organization, Appalachian Cultural Education Society (ACES). Kevan lives on campus, where he enjoys eating and lifting weights. In 2006 and 2007 he was recognized for his leadership qualities and scholastic achievement and awarded the T. Norris and Vivilore Hitchman and the Paul Glantz Endowed Scholarship from the School of Business Administration.
Outside of School, Kevan is heavily involved in community service and philanthropic activities. He has taken part in eleven workweeks with the Appalachia Service Project (since 2001), initially with Nardin Park United Methodist Church in Farmington Hills, MI and later with self-directed groups of his peers. Kevan is the Chief Financial Officer, "Resident Comedian", and a Director of The Fairy God Foundation, a non-profit also based in London, Kentucky. Also an Eagle Scout, Kevan volunteers regularly with Cass Community Social Services in Detroit.
Kevan was drawn to Appalachia as a teenager, and has a strong passion for philanthropy.
