For the Love of a Child Inc., a London-based non-profit charity, was incorporated on August 22nd, announced co-founder and Chairperson of the Board Joyce Graham-Smith.
“We are thrilled to accomplish this formality and look forward to helping more people and increasing our presence in the community,” said Graham-Smith. Graham-Smith also noted that the organization had received its first cash donations in conjunction with its incorporation.
Graham-Smith and husband Charles Smith founded For the Love of a Child in late 2005, when a child who came into their lives was without life’s basic needs. The child’s family was unable to provide for the child, and the couple recognized the need for a charitable organization to help people in these situations.
For the Love of a Child has since helped scores of people, especially children, who lack life’s essentials by providing them the necessities and comforts that everyone deserves. The organization boasts a bustling warehouse in London full of clothing, infant needs, furniture, toys and other donations.

At the initial Board of Directors meeting on August 25th, co-founders Graham-Smith and Smith appointed themselves and the following people as Directors: Sandra Smith, Jennifer White, and Conitha McKnight of London, Karen Robinson, Judy Burkhart, and Christopher McFarland of Lily, and Stephen Wayne of Farmington, MI.
The directors appointed Graham-Smith as Chief Executive Officer, Sandra Smith as Chief Operating Officer, Charles Smith as Chief Financial Officer, and Jennifer White as Chief Administrative Officer. The officers, who are kin, are excited to undertake this opportunity as a family.
“This family has great compassion for others and a fervent zeal for philanthropy, and I have the utmost confidence that these traits will truly shine in For the Love of a Child. Everyone stands to benefit from their kindness,” said Wayne, who is also Executive Director of The Fairy God Foundation in Hyden.
